How To Create A Distribution List In Outlook 2003

I had a user create a distribution list in Outlook 2003. (We have Exchange 2010).

We can see it in her contacts, but when we start a new e-mail, we cant find it.

I seem to remember that something was needed to be done to view a distribution list, but I cant remember at the moment.

Thanks

After a little too much time with this, I decided to just have her use OWA to send e-mail to the distribution list.

It looks like it doesn't work with Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2010.

Are you referring to autocomplete?  If it is enabled, has she sent an email to the DL previously?

Bret8924

No, it isnt the autocomplete feature.

Thanks

If I remember correctly, Outlook 2003 will default to the main distribution, or Global Address book. You will have to switch to "Contacts" for the distribution list to show up. Click "TO:" in the new email, and select Contacts.

Is she switching for the GAL to her contacts when looking for the list?

I tried it on my pc with the same outcome as her.

I checked the GAL, contacts, etc.

If she created it in her local contacts, you won't see it on your pc.  Have you tried Dave's suggestion on her pc?

Do her contacts show up at all as an address book in outlook? If not, right click on contacts (in folder view) and go to properties "Outlook Address Book" and make sure that the "Show this folder as an e-mail address book" is checked.

You may have to go into mail preferences in control panel and add "Outlook Address Book" as an available Address Book there.

And yes, as others are saying, you can't make a company distribution list from Outlook, at least not easily. That is done through Active Directory. Don't know if that is what you are trying to do though.
