LG and Volkswagen Want to Connect Your Home and Car
In the future, if you forget to turn off the lights when you leave the house, an unlikely helper may be able to let y'all know: your Volkswagen (VW). Indeed, cars will be able to communicate straight with your humble abode.
The German car maker on announced, earlier this week, plans to develop new connected automobile features with LG. In the coming years, the companies plan to work together to create a 'next-gen' connected car service platform" that boasts not but infotainment features but also links together your home and vehicle.
Leveraging "the latest in cloud technology", the envisioned platform will "bring together the connected automobile and the smart home", letting you control and monitor smart devices in your house—such equally the lights, security system, and appliances—correct from the driver's seat. VW and LG envision a system with a "context-sensitive notification middle that can deliver letters in an intuitive and prophylactic manner."
This is far from LG's outset foray into the automotive scene. The company has been supplying acoustic products for vehicles since 2007.
"We remember LG's expertise in smart technology together with Volkswagen's leadership in the automotive sector will revolutionise the way drivers interact with their vehicles," Richard Choi, Head of LG's Cloud Middle said.
Meanwhile, on the automotive front, VW last month appear plans to launch more than xxx "fully electrical new vehicles" by 2025. Past then, VW expects to be selling about 2-3 million purely electric vehicles a yr, accounting for an estimated 25% of the visitor's total sales volume.
