Easy Way To Draw Angel Wings

  1. 1

Draw three trapezoids of different sizes and orientations which are connected to each other. This will be the framework for the wings.

  2. 2

Draw two straight lines with a space apart and which follow the orientation of the trapezoids – three layers are formed.

  1. 1

    Draw a slanted diamond.

  2. 2

Draw 2 connected curves on the lower part of the diamond.

  3. 3

Draw a row of fang-like ovals up until the end of the curve. Then create two more rows of ovals below the first row, making three rows of ovals in total.

  4. 4

Draw the same ovals at the intersection of the diamond and the curve. This time, though, have the ovals gradually growing bigger and fanning out (see image).

  5. 5

Draw bigger longer feathers, using rectangles with curved edges still following the direction of the fan.

  6. 6

Ink your drawing, erase the sketch.

  7. 7

Color your drawing, and then create a copy of it. There you have it—a pair of angel wings.

How do I draw the angel wings folded/closed up?

If you can see the joints in the wings, divide the wing into the sections created by the joints, and scrunch it up a bit. Keep most of the feathers pointed downwards.

Can I do this in a simpler way?

    Community Answer

A simple way to do this is to draw less feathers and make it more cartoonish.

  • Question

How many feathers do I draw on the wings?

    Community Answer

It depends. How detailed do you want your wings? Also, size and shape matter. There isn't a magic number for exactly how many feathers angel wings need, you just need enough to have the certain shape that you want. As long as your feathers are placed and aligned properly, the amount shouldn't matter.

  • Question

Can you give me some tips for drawing the angel?

    Mimi Me

One tip is to look up angel wing clipart. You can get some ideas for different positions or wing styles from that sort of artwork. If you have difficulties, try tracing a design from online.

  • Make the feathers spread out and go across. You can also add feathers sticking out at the end of each row for a unique look. They don't have to be the same size. Make them as big or as small as you want!!!

  • It's okay if you mess up its not the end of the world.

  • You can change the color of the wings into blue for white backgrounds to make your wings stand out.

  • It's easier when you create it in Adobe Illustrator.

  • If your wing looks out of proportion change the size of your feathers.
