   The gallery is scanning the phone for media and displaying it. If you don't want the media in a particular folder (ie Facebook stickers) to be found/displayed then create an empty file in the folder named ".NoMedia".

   I have the same problem. Download quickpick and use it for default gallery with options to hide those folders is the only solution so far .

    But why should i do this when its clearly related to messenger - oxygen os ? i never saw that probl on nexus 6p or s8.

    Problem solved, buy, showing hidden staff on file manager, and adding .nomedia on Android, odd folder and data...

    I was struggling to find the Facebook stickers folder as the files were showing up in an '/storage/emulated/0/' directory that were not listed in the Internal Storage when connecting my phone to my PC (Windows 10).

    I found placing the .nomedia file in the 'android/data/com.facebook.orca/files/stickers' folder did the trick for me, don't get confused with 'com.facebook.orca' folder in the Internal Storage root, this is not the same as the one in 'android/data/'.

    Hope this helps!

    Just also want to throw out there how much I'm loving my OnePlus 6, changing from iPhone after 6 years is probably the best decision I've made in a long time!

    Found this answer on another thread and it worked for me

    "this has been mentioned with a trick i guess.

    Go to File Manager ---> CLICK THE SETTINGS (one with the three dots ---> Settings ---> check the Show hidden files ----> then go to WhatsApp folder first ---> Go to media folder of WhatsApp ---> whatsApp sticker ---> then copy the ".nomedia" file ---> paste it to the folder containing the stickers in fb messenger (Android folder ---> Data ---> com.facebook.orca ---> files ---> Stickers)

    still have the same issue here... everytime I need to open the internal storage and delete all the files stickers and advertising video. if I added the .nomedia files, will it be eating my space for the phone itself as well?

    .nomedia is an empty file so it won't take up any storage space

    I'm sorry folks but I have tried this ".nomedia" solution to no avail. These random thumbnails and other media continue to show up in my gallery. Furthermore, the fact that we even have to wade through all of this, to attempt to fix an issue that doesn't exist on stock android phones I have had in the past is preposterous. I own both a one plus 6 and a 6t, it occurs on both. I paid over a grand for these 2 phones, things like this should not be an issue. I had a $200 Moto x4 and the thing worked flawlessly. I got this 6 and 6t and I've been spending countless hours dealing with OnePlus over issues like this. I've read everywhere how wonderful OxygenOS is, I have to disagree at this point. I'm stuck with it now but I cant see myself buying another one down the road. Stock android is the most reliable OS. These modified OS's that other manufactures build on top of android have always been buggy. I trusted the reviews and OnePlus on this and I got burned. I have a email thread with OnePlus now trying to get them to fix this. We shall see what happens.

    I really do hope this gets fixed soon. I don't really know where to report the issue, but I had an s9 and a nexus 5x and they both had no such problems. I can't believe simple stuff like this gets messed up.
